I love a photo I saw by Steve Allen of a beautiful American Widgeon. I love the colors of this duck. I also had fun depicting the pattern and detail of his feathers along with their echoes in the water. I enjoyed this project both with watercolor pencils and with watercolor paints, which could easily be paired with a graphite pencil, a colored pencil, or a pen, if you’d like to add them. Otherwise, this would be a lovely painting in watercolor paints alone.
