Using Watercolor Paint and/or Watercolor Pencil as our base, I’d like us to “stick our toe” into adding an additional media or using a different support.
I will demonstrate our subject using a typical watercolor or watercolor pencil painting on white paper, but I will also add at least one other new technique for depicting our subject by adding an additional media or using tinted or colored paper as a support.
Over the autumn and winter I’ll introduce using graphite pencils with our traditional media, or using an ink pen, liquid artist inks, or adding glistening metallics or other luminescent media.
I will introduce using tinted or colored paper with either dry or wet media.
As always, I’ll demonstrate each subject using just watercolor paint or watercolor pencil. There will be no need to purchase any new supplies unless you want to add something.
Our subjects will include everything from fruit, flowers, seasonal items, to birds, and insects.
Not intimidating, (hopefully!) not confusing, just fun! Please join us to either try something new, or just enjoy some time with your preferred media over this autumn and winter.
AUTUMN
Sept 8th & 15th Changing Seasons
$25 for the two sessions together
As we transition our seasons, I’d like to focus on a favorite summer and autumn fruit, demonstrating each using watercolor paints, watercolor pencils, or a combination. I’ll also have a few options for complexity if you’re interested. I’ll begin by demonstrating an heirloom tomato, both using white and tinted paper. Next, I’ll demonstrate a beautiful gourd using similar colors but adding some fun texture and quirky color transitions. This one probably isn’t tasty to eat, but I sure love painting them! I’ll demonstrate this gourd using white and tinted paper and I’ll add graphite pencil with each media for those who are interested.
Many of us love mums in a variety of forms and colors. I selected these mums to paint because of their subtle melding of a few different colors. I’m excited to use my demonstration to show how adding graphite pencils to watercolor paint and watercolor pencil washes can combine to achieve delicate color and form, while maintaining the kind of control many of us appreciate.
